Greetings from Sand Prairie Farms

Sand Prairie Farms Conservation Area and Hunting Club is family owned and operated in the beautiful farmland of North Central Illinois.

Our family owned farmland is located 12.5 miles south of Dixon, IL. We have a great diversity in our land with three meandering creeks flowing thru, four wetland areas, a small gravel pit pond, and gently rolling farmland.

We have developed these natural land features into our conservation plan to promote wildlife and biologic diversity and to promote a native type-hunting club. We have worked extensively with Pheasants forever since 1988 to establish native prairie plantings and windbreaks. We have over 28 acres of hardwood plantings and another 60+ acres of scattered prairie grass and creek filter strip plantings.

We have used the creeks and tree lines to naturally separate hunting groups, which allows for a safer, more stress free hunt for all. We also limit the number of hunting groups over or 760 acres of hunting land.

Sand Prairie Farms has a limited membership and is licensed with IDNR for a 12-month season. This allows you to train your hunt dogs year round. Our membership season runs September 1 thru August 31 the following year.

A 10-station sporting clays course is also available to challenge your shooting year round.

SPF is a family farm and we farm our land organically, which we see benefits wildlife immensely. Since we are farmers we operate the hunting club on a basis that doesn’t demand full time income or busy scheduling. We deliberately limit membership to allow for a more relaxed, no pressure hunting. Most days all seven of our large hunting areas aren’t even used, and usually members can book both morning and afternoon hunts. Members can release a variety of birds for their hunts including; quail, Tennessee Red Quail, chukar partridge, Hungarian Partridge, pheasant, and turkey. Members can also enjoy hunting any wild season game. We do offer guides and dogs for a fee for those who request them in advance.

We invite you to come check out our rustic clubhouse and tour the property. We offer ½ day prospective member hunt to let you experience our operation before deciding to join.
